How to add the SCDO network (SCDO Shard0 (EVM)) to MetaMask
A step-by-step setup guide from SCDO Laboratory, Melbourne, Australia
MetaMask is a widely used wallet for EVM-compatible networks. Connecting MetaMask to SCDO Shard0 (EVM) lets users view account data and perform basic network operations within a familiar wallet interface. SCDO Shard0 (EVM) is a proof-of-work EVM-compatible network built on core-geth, running the Ethash algorithm with an approximate 13-second block target time, and blocks are continuously produced. Users should note that SCDO Shard1-4 (Classic) produce addresses starting with 1S01… or 2S02…; these Classic-format addresses do not work in MetaMask. Classic accounts use 8 decimals and can be managed in the Classic web wallet at https://scdoscan.io/wallet/ instead.
The simplest setup path for desktop MetaMask extension is one-click addition. First install MetaMask from metamask.io and finish wallet creation or import. Write down your Secret Recovery Phrase on paper and keep it in offline storage. Navigate to https://scdoscan.io/start.html and select “Add SCDO Shard0 (EVM) to MetaMask”. Approve the pop-up request from MetaMask. If you previously added this network, the button will trigger network switching instead of a new addition. After approval, MetaMask switches to SCDO Shard0 (EVM).
If one-click addition does not work, complete manual network configuration by entering the full set of parameters. Open the MetaMask network menu, choose Manage networks, then select Add a custom network. (Menu labels can differ slightly between MetaMask versions.) Fill every field exactly as shown below:
- Network name: SCDO Shard0 (EVM)
- RPC URL: https://scdoscan.io/rpc/0
- Chain ID: 5680 (hex 0x1630)
- Currency symbol: SCDO
- Block explorer URL: https://scdoscan.io
For MetaMask mobile application users, two options exist. You may open https://scdoscan.io/start.html inside MetaMask’s built-in browser and tap the add-network button. Alternatively, open the network menu, choose Manage networks, then Add a custom network, and paste the same parameter set. Menu labels may change slightly across app versions. If you open the Get Started page in a regular mobile browser without a wallet, the page shows a link to open it directly in the MetaMask app, as well as the manual parameters. These identical parameters also apply for other custom-network-supporting EVM wallets such as Trust Wallet, Rabby, OKX Wallet and imToken.
Once you finish adding SCDO Shard0 (EVM), your wallet generates standard 0x-prefixed addresses, matching addresses you use on other EVM networks. Paste your address or transaction hash into the search box at https://scdoscan.io to inspect on-chain records. Always double-check your configuration: confirm RPC URL equals https://scdoscan.io/rpc/0 and Chain ID reads 5680. Note that transaction fees on SCDO Shard0 (EVM) are paid in SCDO, the native currency, which uses 18 decimals. Remember scdoscan.io will never request your Secret Recovery Phrase or private key. Keep these credentials offline and never share them with any website or individual.
Beyond MetaMask, the desktop SCDO Wallet 2.0.0 for Windows released October 1, 2026 offers an alternative client. It supports both SCDO Shard0 (EVM) and Classic accounts and includes built-in GPU mining functions. You can obtain this software from https://scdoscan.io/downloads/wallet/. Before installing, compare the installer against the SHA256SUMS file published on the same page. Users of version 1.1.6 are offered the update inside the wallet under Settings → Check for Updates; older versions need a one-time manual install, and existing accounts are kept. Those interested in GPU mining or running full network nodes may visit https://scdoscan.io/mine/ for further technical materials. To get started now, open the Get Started page at https://scdoscan.io/start.html and add the network in one click.
For developers deploying smart contracts onto SCDO Shard0 (EVM), set your Solidity compiler evmVersion value to "paris". Shanghai and PUSH0 features are not activated within this network environment. The scdoscan.io block explorer supports contract inspection, transaction review and read-write contract interactions when users connect their wallet. The explorer also shows internal transactions and event logs, which helps when testing a deployment step by step.
